New York Giants Fantasy 2026: Reading the Offseason Tea Leaves
Welcome to the tenth part of a thirty-two-part series: Reading the NFL Offseason Tea Leaves. Fantasy football tasseography is deeply rooted in the prediction of future fantasy fortunes. Some of the team tea cups we'll be looking into may be larger than others. The smallest of cups may have the most alluring blends of offensive weaponry, or be set to bloom after a long steep. This series will aid in your approach to Redraft and Dynasty leagues by bringing you up to date on:
- Free Agency
- Re-signings, additions, who signed elsewhere, and what it means for fantasy.
- NFL Draft
- What can we decipher about the direction a team is headed in based on their draft selections?
- Coaching Changes
- Who's in, who's out, and how do the coaching philosophies translate to fantasy production?
- Fantasy Fortunes
- What does this all mean for your fantasy football drafts?
Like tasseography, the arrangement of these four sections will vary as we digest each team's offseasons and see how the offensive pieces settle. Each article will interpret what the NFL team has told us about its future plans based on its actions since the 2025 season ended.
Reading the New York Giants' 2026 Offseason
Coaching Changes
The Giants moved on from Head Coach Brian Daboll, bringing in former Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh. In Harbaugh's last eight seasons, his teams' rushing yardage has been lower than 3rd best in the league. Harbaugh's teams run the ball, and to do so, the Giants brought in FB and honorary lineman Patrick Ricard, along with Harbaugh, to beef up the run game.
Harbaugh appointed Matt Nagy as his Offensive Coordinator, who was formerly with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2023-2025 and was the Chicago Bears Head Coach from 2018-2021. Historically, Nagy's offenses have ranked in the top half of the league in passing attempts, and when the offensive weapons are good, the teams score TDs.
Many people cloud their judgment of Nagy by remembering how bad his head coaching tenure was in Chicago. When given good weapons, he runs an offense worth buying into in fantasy football. Expect the offense to be run-heavy under Harbaugh, with lots of run-pass options (RPOs), screens, and pre-snap motion.
Free Agency Additions
The Giants' most notable free agent addition also happens to be a former Raven - it's pass-catching TE Isaiah Likely. Likely signed a three-year $40M deal with New York, making him the fourth-highest-paid TE in the NFL. Likely will start at TE for the Giants with Theo Johnson as their TE2. Expect many two-TE sets in a Harbaugh offense. WRs Calvin Austin and Darnell Mooney were also brought in during free agency to compete for the WR2 role.
Draft Day Additions
Come the NFL draft, the Giants beefed up their offensive line, spending the 10th overall pick on OT/OG Francis Mauigoa from Miami. In round three, they drafted another strong blocker in Notre Dame WR Malachi Fields. Fields was at the Senior Bowl and made arguably the best catch of the week when he dove to haul in a 50-yard bomb into a group of media members.
The WR2 role on the Giants is hanging in the air, and Fields may find himself getting playing time earlier than many other rookie WRs. I love drafting Fields at the end of round 2 in my dynasty rookie drafts. He's much more than the deep threat Notre Dame used him as.
Fantasy Fortunes
This team isn't going to ask Jaxson Dart to win deep downfield; instead, it will look to highlight his strengths in the short and intermediate areas of the field. If Dart can stay healthy in 2026, his rushing upside could give us a QB1 finish.
Whoever starts at RB for the Giants will see weekly RB2 upside given the volume we can expect from a Harbaugh team. Cam Skattebo has RB1 upside and expects to be ready for Week 1 after suffering a dislocated ankle in October. Veteran Tyrone Tracy will likely see a heavier workload to start the season than he will towards the end, barring another Skattebo injury.
Malik Nabers is still recovering from his torn ACL and meniscus, and he hopes to be ready to start the season. Nabers' Average Draft Position (ADP) is falling into a range where his negative regression will be palatable for the price you pay in redraft. If Nabers isn't ready to start the year, Darnell Mooney will likely play Nabers' role.
Nabers, when healthy, is a WR1, and the other WRs are likely fantasy WR3s or worse this season. Personally, I think veteran WR Darius Slayton wins the WR2 role opposite Nabers to start the year, and will be overtaken by Fields by year's end. There's a lot of solid WR depth on this roster, which should help sustain Dart's value if injuries occur.
Likely's contract means he's locked up the TE1 role, and Johnson is TE2. With the NFL's trend towards multi-TE sets, we might see Likely score in the TE1 range, and Johnson wind up a backend TE2.
Harbaugh brings the smash-mouth mentality that might give us a backend QB1-QB2, RB1-2, WR2-4, and a TE1.
