Football is known to be a game of inches. As we inch closer to NFL Week 3 action and the end of the season, we learn more about these teams and how we need to alter our expectations for certain fantasy football players in 2024.

Is Jaxon-Smith Njigba’s Week 2 performance just a fluke? Could the Packers go undefeated while Jordan Love is sidelined with his knee injury? Is Brock Bowers the new Dynasty TE1?

All these compelling NFL Week 3 storylines will be analyzed and dissected in our latest series, “Storyline, Storytime,” which will bring you exclusive insights crafted by @hoovtube on X.

While not every game may offer an enticing opportunity for betting on the outright winner, the Optimus team is devoted to delivering comprehensive betting analysis, ensuring that our audience is well-informed and prepared as they engage with the series.

NFL Week 3 Schedule & Predictions

Baltimore Ravens @ Dallas Cowboys

Ravens (-1) Cowboys (+1)

Sometimes, you must return to what works to get back on the right track. While reading that line, I hope all of you thought of Chris Farley’s iconic SNL character, Matt Foley. But all jokes aside, it is the absolute truth. Multiple bets we’ve written about in this series have hit throughout the first two weeks, but unfortunately, it hasn’t resulted in a perfect article.

Betting on Zay Flowers‘s +5.5 receptions betting odds in Week 2 was a great pick.

I see a continuance with his production, hoping to inevitably change this series’ current trajectory. To quote my friend Jeff Bell (@4WhomJBellTolls), “Zay Flowers is the only player in the NFL to see double-digit targets in both Week 1 and 2.”

I’ll repeat what I wrote last week about Flowers because it’s as accurate now as it was then. We may not know whether each week is Mark Andrews week or whether it’s Isaiah Likely week, but we do know for sure that every week is Zay Flowers week in that WR room.

Hoov’s Pick: Zay Flowers Receptions O/U: Over 5.5 (+115)

Carolina Panthers @ Las Vegas Raiders

Panthers (+6) Raiders (-6)

As someone who has been unapologetically stubborn against investing in rookie TEs with first-round draft picks in the past, I’ll be the first to say it;

Brock Bowers is the TRUTH.

While the TE position has felt completely lackluster the first two weeks of the season, Bowers has almost single-handedly been carrying his position with what he has done so far.

Bowers has shown back-to-back weeks, seeing the field 68% of the time while receiving 15/17 of his targets. Betting on him to get at least five catches against a poor but energized Panthers team still feels like the most enticing bet of Week 3’s gambling slate.

Hoov’s Pick: Brock Bowers Receptions O/U: Over 4.5 (-140)

Houston Texans @ Minnesota Vikings

Texans (-1.5) Vikings (+1.5)

As a 49ers fan, I was very disappointed by the results of Week 2, with Minnesota pulling off an upset win. However, one post-game comment has stuck with me. 49ers QB Brock Purdy, while speaking with Vikings QB Sam Darnold, was quoted saying, “Your scheme is crazy.”

Watching the tape, it’s clear that Brian Flores brought his A-game against the 49ers.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Flores has been one of the most respected defensive minds since his time at Miami. I anticipate continued strong performance from Minnesota’s defense under Flores’s leadership, which will likely make CJ Stroud and the Texans’ offense work just as hard in Week 3.

I often use the design principle “KISS” – Keep It Simple, Stupid – when processing information for myself. It’s important to remember that there’s no shame in going back to the basics, as that’s what you know best. Despite Brian Flores potentially making CJ Stroud’s Sunday more complicated, Stroud going back to the basics and targeting Tank Dell heavily could make his Sunday a little easier.

Hoov’s Pick: Tank Dell Receptions O/U: Over 3.5 (-155)

More NFL Week 3 Bets

This article analyzed 3 NFL matchups for Week 3 and identified the most enticing bet. Although we didn’t cover all the matchups, there are still many more bets available on DraftKings Sportsbook that you should consider.

Some of the other various bets I’m considering are:

  • Green Bay Packers *Moneyline* (+124) @ Tennessee Titans

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba Receiving Yards: 60+ (+125) vs Miami Dolphins

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba: Anytime TD Scorer (+195) vs Miami Dolphins

  • Rasheed Shaheed Receptions O/U: Over 3.5 (-115) vs Philadelphia Eagles

  • Wan’Dale Robinson Receptions O/U: Over 3.5 (-115) @ Cleveland Browns
