WR2s with WR1 Potential This Week

Darnell Mooney, Atlanta Falcons

Rostered in 82.6% of ESPN Leagues

Darnell Mooney remains a limited participant in practice due to a knee injury, so it is important to monitor his status closely. If the 26-year-old is available in your league, he should be picked up immediately.

In Week 5’s overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mooney earned 16 targets, turning them into nine receptions for 105 yards and two scores. This performance resulted in 31.5 PPR points, highlighting his potential when healthy.

As his usage continues to expand in the Falcons’ offense, Mooney faces an enticing matchup this week against the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina’s defense has allowed 29.9 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers, including eight touchdowns through the air this season. With a 22 percent target share, Mooney is a must-roster option.

Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants

Rostered in 69% of ESPN Leagues

Wan’Dale Robinson is a must-add wide receiver heading into Week 6. The Kentucky product is another player to target if he is available in your league.

Robinson draws a favorable matchup when the New York Giants take on the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals have surrendered five touchdowns to wide receivers this season. The Bengals have been middle-of-the-pack versus wideouts.

In Robinson’s best game of the season last week, he caught six passes for 36 yards and a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks. His involvement increased due to Malik Nabers missing time with a concussion, putting the former second-rounder as the primary receiving choice for the Giants.

Whether Nabers is in or out this week, Robinson should continue seeing a steady target volume from Daniel Jones. His ability to rack up receptions makes him especially valuable in PPR leagues, providing a safe option for fantasy managers.

Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts

Rostered in 46.8% of ESPN Leagues

The Indianapolis Colts have a valuable wide receiver to target for those needing depth. Josh Downs is available in more than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. In Week 5, Downs led the team with 12 targets and earned a 27% target share, following another team-high target count in Week 4. Operating primarily out of the slot, he has capitalized on his role, especially with quarterback Joe Flacco under center.

While Anthony Richardson‘s return could slightly reduce the wideout’s value, he remains a strong roster option, particularly for bye-week coverage. Flacco’s higher passing volume has benefited Downs, so monitor the quarterback situation closely.

Downs is also on the injury report with a toe issue, while Michael Pittman Jr. is expected to miss multiple weeks with a back injury. With Pittman out, Downs’ role is boosted.

The Colts face a tough matchup against the Titans, who surrender the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. While this might not be the best week to start Downs, he could still serve as a WR2/WR3 or flex if necessary. Other players on this list have stronger matchups. Given his recent usage and Pittman’s absence, the North Carolina alum should still be considered.

Allen Lazard, New York Jets

Rostered in 38.7% of ESPN Leagues

A wide receiver worth adding to rosters this week is Allen Lazard of the New York Jets. He has found the end zone four times in five games, showcasing his ability to score and contribute to fantasy lineups.

Although he faces a tough matchup against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, who have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season, Lazard’s scoring potential cannot be overlooked.

Despite the challenge, Lazard remains one of Aaron Rodgers‘ preferred targets, ensuring he sees consistent opportunities. While expecting WR1 numbers may be unrealistic this week, he still possesses value as a flex play if needed.

If Lazard can capitalize on his shots, he could emerge as a trustworthy contributor, particularly in the red zone. His consistency in the end zone will be essential for fantasy managers looking for production at the wide receiver position as the season progresses.

Jalen Tolbert, Dallas Cowboys

Rostered in 30.5% of ESPN Leagues

Jalen Tolbert remains criminally under-rostered despite consistently showing his potential. If available, he should be added to rosters immediately.

In Week 6, the Dallas Cowboys take on the Detroit Lions, whose defense ranks top-6 against the run. This will likely force Dallas to rely more on the passing game.

The Lions have surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers, along with 873 receiving yards this season. With Brandin Cooks on injured reserve due to a knee infection, Tolbert showed up in Week 5, catching seven passes for 87 yards and a game-winning TD.

Tolbert’s increased involvement makes him an ideal option, especially with Dak Prescott‘s eyes on him. He is a confident start for this week and in the future.
